Getting here just got easier this summer

Great news for visitors taking mass transit to Rockaway this summer: the MTA is improving both bus and subway access on weekends starting on June 12th.

According to an MTA press release, the S shuttle that now runs from Beach 116th Street to Broad Channel will be extended to Rockaway Boulevard in Ozone Park. The extension will allow Brooklyn-bound commuters to transfer to either a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard originated A train, thereby minimizing service delays and crowding at the Broad Channel stop.

S shuttle riders can also connect directly to the Air Train at the Howard Beach-JFK stop.

The additional service is slated to continue until the Labor Day weekend, with an option to be extended in line with the public beach season.

The MTA has also announced that Q35 bus service, originating at the Flatbush Avenue junction, will now run every 7½ minutes.
