The Palms in Rockaway is open

The Palms, Rockaway

The Palms, a new dining, shopping and event space in Rockaway, has officially opened this evening.

Billed as a space for “spirited community exchanges,” the formerly dilapidated lot on Beach 96th Street was transformed into a lush oasis lined with palm trees. Founded by David Selig, of Rockaway Taco, and Amy Morris and Anna Polonsky of The MP Shift, the space will host al fresco pop-up dinners, movie nights, art exhibitions by Topless, as well as fashion vendors. A full listing of events can be found here.

The space will also be home to The Nothing Mud Bath & Seltzer House, founded by Frank Traynor. According to the website, the shack will be “a mud bath for the community to cleanse, to soak, to sweat, before jumping into the ocean.” Traynor, founder of The Perfect Nothing Catalog, will also be teaching classes about the use of mud and other natural resources found in Rockaway.
