UPDATED: Taco confusion, Sugar Cube and Caracas open, and Beach Sliders

Summer Preview:

Rockaway Taco may be shuttered this summer, but the culinary talents behind that operation have opened up shop a few blocks away. Tacoway Beach kicked off the unofficial start of summer by opening up in the Rockaway Beach Surf Club this weekend.

At this time, there are no announced plans for any other food service to open up in the old Rockaway Taco space. DiCosmo’s Ices also will not be returning this summer.

Here are a couple of other new and notable openings along Restaurant Row since last summer:

Rockaway Roasters is a new gourmet coffee shop and organic juice bar featuring Stumptown products. Open Monday through Friday from 6:00AM to 6:00PM, and weekends 8:00AM to 6:00PM.

Beach Sliders

Beach Sliders

Beach Sliders will be serving White Castle-inspired burgers, as well as a full service breakfast menu in an old fashioned diner-grill setting.

Chicks to Go is an authentic Peruvian rotisserie, serving roasted chicken, hot dogs, salads and sides such as fried cassave.

The Sugar Bowl is confirmed open as of May 15th. Caracas Arepa Bar and Conchos at the Beach 106th Street concessions are also confirmed as open. Rippers, at Beach 86th Street, will open on Saturday, May 16th.

Connolly’s and the Beach 97th Street concessions will open on Friday, May 22nd. Here is a full listing of the beach concessions.
