Some foodie notes from a holiday weekend….

Jameson’s Pub on Beach 129th Street is another example of Rockaway’s best Irish bar and grills. Serving a reliable menu of burgers, salads, sandwiches and wraps, Jameson’s also boasts one of the area’s best selection of craft beers. A recent winner at the San Diego Beer Fest, the Original Fireman’s Brew blonde draft was added to the tap last month. There is also outdoor seating available, and a 2-for-1 burger special on Wednesdays.

Uma’s at 92-07 Rockaway Beach Boulevard keeps drawing the crowds in for the unique Uzbeki cuisine. The dining room was packed with area residents and visitors eager to try the Siberian Pelmeni, a dish of meat dumplings in a tasty yogurt sauce, or any of the amazing grilled kebabs.

Over at the Beach 97th Street concessions, Low Tide Bar hosted The Grayriders on Friday. The Bolivian Llama Party was sold out of chicken and beef saltenas, but the pulled pork sandwich was pretty amazing.

Brunch at the Playland Motel was a more low-key affair than any of their evening events. The menu consists of the usual brunch fare of omelets, pancakes and waffles. Beachgoers who were fortifying themselves were disappointed to find the backyard was closed due to building code violations. However, the dining room and restaurant remain open in full swing.
