honeybee-honeycomb-macro_26201_990x742The 3rd Annual New York City Honey Festival returns to Rockaway on September 7, 2013. Co-hosted by The Brooklyn Grange, one of the world’s leading rooftop urban farms, and Rippers, the boardwalk snack shack and juice bar, the festival drew over 2,000 visitors last year. According the Chase Emmons, the apiary director of the Brooklyn Grange, the aim of the festival is to promote the benefits of urban beekeeping.

The festival this year will feature urban beekeepers, artists, and performers. Vendors will be on hand selling food and other honeybee inspired products. Also on tap will be some amazing honey-based beer from KelSo Beer and Rockaway Brewing Company. Proceeds of charity raffles offered by local restaurants and sponsors will benefit the Graybeards, a community based volunteer organization that has works tirelessly on behalf of residents in need and Wounded Warriors alike.

The festival will be located on the Boardwalk at Beach 86th Street, in front of Rippers, from 10am-sunset.
